Cast in the traditional lost wax bronze method
One of the most famous images in European art comes to life as a quality bronze statue in this timeless work seemingly plucked right out of the lake region of Italy. Patterned after the painting by Sandro Botticelli (1446-1510), our shapely bronze Venus statue with flowing tresses appears ready to step from her giant scalloped shell onto the shore and into "life." Our bronze Renaissance maiden statue is expertly finished with a hand-applied multidimensional emerald verde bronze patina. The classic nude is individually cast in the traditional lost wax method, which highlights her expressive face and exquisite, positioned limbs and guarantees lasting beauty. Sure to be a focal point, this Design Toscano exclusive heirloom-quality bronze garden statue conveys that you take the exterior of your home as seriously as the interior.

About the Artist:
Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510)
Sandro Botticelli (Botticelli meaning 'little barrel') was born Allessandro di Mariano Filipepi in Florence Italy. In the beginning of his career he achieved immediate success and fame throughout Italy. He seemed god-like as his whole town appeared at the release of one of his first paintings. Botticelli was influenced by Fra Filippo Lippi who taugh him to draw outlines and create the effect of transparency. With his help he became skilled enough to create portraits for the Medici family.
Most of Sandro's paintings were religious in tone. Examples are Madonna the Child With Two Saints and the Coronation of the Virgin. Other works like Spring contained allegorical and philosophical meanings. Like Michelangelo Botticelli was hired to paint the walls of the Sistine Chapel. He designed three different scenes. Later in life he had a 'religious crisis' due to the influence of a priest called Savonarola.
Thus his paintings grew more religious amd less mythical. After his death in 1510 Botticelli was rediscovered during the Pre-Raphaelite movement some three hundred years later. He was most admired for his graceful linework. Another posthumous achievement was presented to him when a room at the Uffizi was named in his honor.
